The Project: An Album and an Ongoing Service
Personalized Soul Songs began as a project for a certificate program on Sound, Music, and Voice Healing at the California Institute of Integral Studies. I chose to combine my unique talents into this musical project where I would offer a distant Reiki Healing Session to friends, classmates and community members in the Bay Area. During the healing session, I would evoke a healing song by toning, chanting, generating rhythms and listening to the soul of the recipient. The lyrics and melodies that came out were sweet, playful, and healing.
My intention for these songs is that they soothe the individual into a state of oneness. It is the ego who separates the self from the universe and by reuniting these two, we reach ultimate peace and bliss. The songs are short and meant to be repeated in the similar way mantras are chanted. This is how to shift the mind to a state of positive unity.
The biggest catalyst for making this project was to create words with healing intent. I believe in the power of positive affirmations and by combining them with melody, there is a deeper resonance. We are able to create love in our lives from shifting our thought patterns and music enables this transformation.
I would love for other musicians who focus on healing in their artistry to incorporate these songs into their music. They can pair well with a variety of genres and reach a wide audience. Softer songs can be played in Reiki and Yoga studios. Dance songs can be in ecstatic dance communities and parties. Mantras can be recited anywhere, anytime. Each song has been notated, which includes the key, the BPM and the assigned ISMN. They are meant to be shared!
There is also the potential to keep working with individuals who desire transforming their consciousness through personalized soul songs. Entire albums can be created by those willing to dive deeply into combining music and soul healing. I am at the service to the individual and collective by being open to many possibilities. It has been a true pleasure working on this project, which I see being an ongoing endeavor. This work has touched my own soul and has given me much depth, fulfillment and happiness.
